Stator and Rotor
Stator and rotor are the key components of a colloid mill, working together to achieve fine particle size reduction, emulsification, and homogenization. The rotor is the rotating part of the colloid mill, which spins at high speeds to generate strong shear forces between the rotor and stator. The stator is the stationary part of the mill that works in conjunction with the rotor. At Fufui Machinery, our rotor and stator are available in different materials and designs to better fit specific applications.
- Made of durable materials to resist wear and corrosion;
- The gap between the rotor and stator is usually adjustable;
- Different tooth designs are available for different materials.
Rotor and Stator
Stator and rotor are two key components of a colloid grinder. The stator is the stationary part of the colloid mill. It provides a fixed structure around the rotor. While the rotor is the rotating part. It is powered by a motor through a belt-driven system and spins at high speeds relative to the stationary stator. This high-speed motion generates strong shear forces between the rotor and stator, which results in a fine dispersion of the material.
Furui Machinery offers a variety of stators and rotors with different tooth designs and materials, ensuring a tailored solution for your production needs—whether it's for nut butter, bone paste, or fruit puree.
Different Tooth Designs of Stator and Rotor
Shearing Teeth
The shearing teeth (twill teeth) can break down and separate materials efficiently, maximizing output.
Best for fibrous materials like garlic, onions, tomatoes, fish, bone, ginger, pepper, fresh corn, and more.
Diamond Teeth
The diamond-toothed stator and rotor can grind the material finely under effective shearing to achieve the best fineness of the material.
Often used in second stage of grinding, and suitable for liquid and semi-fluid materials, such as sesame paste.
Composite Teeth
It combines the benefits of shearing teeth and diamond-shaped teeth, providing coarse breaking in the first stage and smooth, fine grinding in the second stage.
Ideal for grinding butter from peanuts, cashews, sesame seeds, almonds, hazelnuts, cocoa nibs, and more.
Different Materials
At Furui Machinery, our stators and rotors are made from food-grade stainless steel, including SS304 and SS316, ensuring both durability and hygiene.
Additionally, we provide alloy-coated or diamond-coated rotors and stators designed for grinding hard materials, like bone. The alloy-coating refers to applying tungsten carbide through thermal spraying technology. The tungsten carbide coating boasts a hardness of HRC 71-75, can withstand temperatures up to 850°C, has a porosity of less than 1%, and a bonding strength exceeding 75 MPa. It offers superior wear resistance, extending the service life by 2 to 10 times.
Material | Stainless Steel (Vacuum Quenching) | Stainless Steel (QPQ Process) | Alloy Coated | Diamond Coated |
Hardness | HRC45 | HRC65 | HRC75 | Mohs Hardness 10 |
Service Life | 1 unit | 3 times | 5 times | 15-20 times |
Note: Here we use the service life of rotor and stator made of stainless steel (vacuum quenching) as a reference standard.
Features of Rotor and Stator
1. Mechanical Shearing
The rotor’s high-speed rotation generates significant shear forces on the material. This mechanical force breaks down the material into smaller particles, achieving fine dispersion.
2. Adjustability
The gap between the rotor and stator is adjustable, allowing for fine control of the particle size. Besides, the grinding speed can be controlled with a variable frequency drive to suit different materials.
3. Versatility
We offer different tooth designs of rotor and stators depending on the material being processed so that our colloid mill can process various materials from nuts to fruits, meat and bones.
4. Durability
The rotor and stator are usually made of high-strength materials such as stainless steel to resist wear and corrosion, to ensure long service life.
Conclusion
Choosing the right rotor and stator will impact the productivity, material consistency, machine's service life and processing efficiency. At Furui Machinery, we offer a diverse range of stators and rotors, crafted from different materials and available in various tooth designs to meet the needs of different applications.
